Arkansas Agricultural Exhibit, Worlds Fair, St Louis, Mo. 1904

The Arkansas Agricultural Exhibit showcase for the World’s Fair was one of the first times that Arkansas agricultural products reached an international audience with the fair drawing over 19 million visitors during its seven month exposition. Arkansas' own Mammoth Black Twig won the top prize for its category, setting Arkansas apples on the world stage as one of the best apples. This brought along with it massive success to the agricultural sector of Arkansas, and specifically to Northwest Arkansas through its inventive Mammoth Black Twig variety by horticultural societies in the area. Successful apple variants created microtrends amongst horticulturists and farmers plantation patterns, which sold the idea of Arkansas domination in apple cultivation.

Showcasing its apple orchard dominance, horticulture groups in the Northwest region had showcased on the World’s stage its successful varieties of apple trees grown and grafted in the region. With this success came economic growth never before seen in the area.
